  • Search engine optimization, better known as SEO, is how you are found online. When that future employer enters your name in a search engine, you don’t want that crazy night last year you forgot you posted on Facebook to be the first thing that pops up. Instead, create more compelling stories about yourself!

One way to boost SEO is to have a personal website which is updated consistently. Tell your story yourself and list your work, your triumphs and expertise. Update this site as much as possible so when those search engines are scouring the World Wide Web, they are more likely to pull the most recent sites and articles about you.

Another way to build your brand is to guest post on other websites offering advice related to your expertise.  Always remember to ask for hyperlink back to your website and/or social media pages. That darn SEO is looking for you!

Fun Fact: Pinterest is great for cataloging your online presence. Every time you are mentioned in an article, pin it to your personal Pinterest page. This way you, and everyone else, can easily find the articles.

Activity: Search your own name and see what shows up. If you don’t like what you see, it’s time to start posting and publishing your own message!
